Patalliro!

Patarillo! is set in a society much like ours in most ways, with one decided twist. The manga on which it is based is one of the much-read works produced for adolescent Japanese girls that features a healthy proportion of gay men and beautiful teenagers aka bishounen (beautiful boys). Most of the action takes place in Marinera, the land of eternal spring, located somewhere in the South Seas. The country is a major producer of diamonds; they provide much of the basis of conflict in the anime series. They come from one of the most prolific mines in the world, owned by the king of Marinera, the vertically challenged but horizontally endowed boy-king Patarillo himself. The International Diamond Syndicate - a huge semi- criminal organization/ secret society dedicated to taking over the world`s entire diamond supply- wants that mine and will stop at nothing to get it. In the early episodes they send off a number of bishounen assassins to do in Patarillo, which necessitates his having a bodyguard, the English MI6 agent, Major Jack (`Bishounen-Killer`) Bancoran. Bancoran`s nickname doesn`t mean he shoots bishounen in cold blood. The soubriquet comes from the fact that no male under the age of 17 can resist his sexual fascination. This, to Bancoran`s eternal disgust, includes Patarillo himself. The action switches often from Marinera to MI6 headquarters in London (London seems to be an easy two hour`s flight from the South Seas) or Bancoran`s palatial condo in the suburbs of same. (MI6, be it noted, looks a lot like Fritz Lang`s Metropolis, while Jack`s `apartment` bears a passing resemblance to Randolph Hearst`s spread.) The action also goes into the past and future and out into space. Patarillo evidently gets around.

Shin Shirayuki Hime Densetsu Pretear is a long title which translates into New Legend of Snow White Pretear. What makes Pretear anime special is the story. Its a magical girl show, but its part Cinderella plus part Snow White and a dash of bishounens! You will see a lot of fairy tale parallels with this anime series.

On her way to school, Himeno meets a little boy who asks her to take his hand. When she does, she faints and later she wakes up staring up at a dark haired bishounen!

The bishounen who helps revive her turns out to be Hayate, one of the seven knights of the earth. They were looking for Shin Shirayuki Hime Densetsu Pretear (the legendary magical girl that can help them save the earth from ruin and destruction). Hayate, the more tempermental of the seven believes that Himeno is the girl they are looking for.

The story is not just about Himeno and the seven knights. It is also about her home life and her father, Kaoru. Kaoru and Himeno are very close to each other. Natsue, Kaoru`s new wife, is jealous of the closeness that Himeno and Kaoru share. Natsue also has two spoiled daughters, Mawate and Mayune. Her father, Kaoru, is quite enamored with his new wife and the life he lives that he assumes that Himeno is happy too.

Ryo is selected as the candidates for Hime. At first, he refuses, but knowing that Hime has various privileges, he makes up his mind to become it.

Princess Resurrection

Since Hiro Hiyorimi`s parents died, he and his sister Sawawa have lived apart. Now, Sawawa has gotten a new job as the caretaker of a creepy old mansion, and has sent Hiro a letter asking him to come and stay there with her. Finding the mansion boarded up and apparently empty, Hiro wanders around town looking for Sawawa. Instead, he runs into the new resident of the mansion, and ends up pushing her out of the way of some falling steel beams. Unfortunately, he loses his own life in the process. Luckily, or perhaps unluckily, the person he thought he saved turns out to be the princess of the monsters, and she grants him a second life...but only for as long as he will be her servant.

Princess Tutu

Kinkan-chou is a circular shaped town surrounded by castle walls. With its calm scenery including a park, a theatre, lines of shops, it looks as if just any ordinary town... but its slightly unusual? The people who live there are all nice, but they are including cats, crocodiles, all of which can speak!

In this town, there is a large performing arts school, Kinkan-gakuen, where a girl named Ahiru learns ballet. She is a little clumsy but tries as hard as anyone else, and is always scolded and made fun of but also loved by her friends, Pike and Ririe.

Ahiru has an upperclassman, a boy whom she is fond of, Mytho. He is very good at dancing, not so talkative, but handsome; he is Ahiru`s Prince. However, Ahiru feels Mytho`s eyes look lonely. Just once, she would love to see her Prince smile! With those wishes in mind, she continues to work hard with her ballet lessons. But Mytho has a very beautiful, smart girlfriend, Rue, who is even better than her at dance. To think that someone like herself would be able to dance with Mytho is just a dream in another dream. Will Ahiru be able to become a Princess and dance with her Prince?

If that isn`t enough, a second goddess appears: Ruaan Keikounitten, who can bring objects alive. Her goal is to make Tasuke happy. Both goddesses aren`t very bright and cause a lot of damage instead.

Pumpkin Scissors

The long war against Frost Republic scarred many places of the Empire; famine, plague, returned soldiers who become bandits ‚ ‚ ‘ ‚ €š ‚ Worrying about these "war damages" resulting from the devastations of the nation and people`s minds, the Empire Army orgnaizes the 3rd section of Information Bureau known as "Pumpkin Scissors", and they assigned the section for the duty of recovery from the war damage.

Three years have passed since the truce so called "thin ice agreement". The 3rd section hasn`t accomplished their task, yet. Rather, they are absorbed in paper works, and without notice, people ridicule that it is an "Excuse Section" that suppress people`s complaint. However, they strive to achieve their tasks. One day, a man offers to help them. It was a tall man who used to be a Corporal. Dangling an iron lantern from his waist, he handles a heavy gun with one hand.
