I Shall Never Return

Our Road of No Return follows a very basic storyline of two friends discovering their love for each other. The OVA focuses on Amafuji Ken, a dark-haired, brown-eyed skinny high school dropout who longs to tell his best friend, sandy-blond, hazel-eyed Youshinari Ritsurou, how he really feels. Standing in the way of that admission is Ritsurou's girlfriend, Moeko -- not to mention the fact that Ken makes money to pay for his apartment by selling his body to men he meets on the street or at clubs. Ken's parents are divorced, so he lives by himself. After dropping out of high school, Ken gets Ritsurou to live with him, cooking and straightening in exchange for a place to live on their own.

Interlude

For a close-knit foursome of high school friends, life is all about sleeping in class, strawberry milk, and after-class karaoke. However, our unnamed main protagonist is troubled by nightmares of death and disaster. Only when he begins to realize that his memories of people and events are different from those of Tamaki Maiko (named "Tama-chan" by her friends, "Mai-chan" by herself), Chimu and Harusa, his three female friends, does he begin to wonder. Later, when the waking dreams start.... a short moment of him seeing something that noone else sees....an attractive young lady, who stares back at him in amazement from an empty subway station, does he begin to wonder about his sanity. That evening, the four encounter and follow a shadow with no person, only to encounter a gang of stumbling zombies. And then he wakes up that morning from yet another bad dream, but the threads of reality have become a bit too frayed, and he begins to see a way in which he can travel over to the reality of his nightmares.

Parisian electronic duo Daft Punk has scored a feature-length film, "Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem."

Overseen by Japanese animation legend Leiji Matsumoto and written and scored by Daft Punk's Guy-Manuel de Homem Christo and Thomas Bangalter, the hour-long "space opera" completes the story begun by the videos of singles "One More Time," "Aerodynamic," "Digital Love," and "Harder Better Faster Stronger."

In those clips, an evil impresario kidnaps and brainwashes an extra-terrestrial rock group, transforms them into prefabricated pop stars, brings them back to Earth, and manipulates them to the top of the charts.

Each "movement" of this silent film is accompanied by a track from the duo's 2001 Virgin album, "Discovery." "The project was born in 2000, when we flew out to Tokyo with an hour of music and our own script," Bangalter says. "Leiji gave us a warm reception, and after listening to the music, he came on board immediately. Three years later, our dream has come true."

The Raalgon war has cooled to a point where it can probably no longer considered to be one: in fact, many of the Soyokaze crew had been temporarily reassigned. Azalyn had taken time away from her duties as Empress. Although generally placid, some areas of the galaxy are certainly not: the Raalgon cabinet is in turmoil. It also seems to some that the UPSF is being pushed towards full scale war with the Raalgon Empire. If there's a solution to this it won't come from Tylor, but perhaps from someone who has learned Tylor's lesson. It's likely that no one can solve this before the carnage starts though, and even if they did that no one would listen. As the Tylor series comes to an end with this volume, things are looking very grim! Still, if there's anyone who can save the day ...
